Establishment & Composition of Coal (Part 1)

Coal composition is similar to the chemical composition of plant tissues, both contain the main elements consisting of elements C, H, O, N, S, P. This is understandable, because coal is formed from plant tissue that has undergone coalification. Basically the same coal formation by human beings to make charcoal from wood, the difference, wood charcoal can be made as a result of human engineering and innovation, over the short term, coal is being formed by natural processes, for a period of hundreds to thousands of years. Because coal is formed by natural processes, so many parameters that affect the formation of coal. The higher the intensity the higher the parameters that affect the quality of coal is formed.
Coal Formation Process

I. Principles of Sedimentation
Basically the coal belongs to the type of sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks formed from material or particles are deposited in a basin under certain conditions, and experience the transformation Balk compacting and physically, chemically or biochemically. At the time of deposition of this material can always form a horizontal bedding.

II. Geological Time Scale
The process of sedimentation, compaction, and transportation experienced by the material forming the basis of sediment to become sedimentary rocks millions of years running a long time.

Coal Shipping

Shipping process is the loading of coal from the location of the stock pile to the ship or barge (to be brought to market)
Its activities are:
- Loading (using converyor, loading tool)
- Trans shipment
The transfer of cargo from barges to larger ships due to the depth of the sea at the port of loading is too shallow for large ships moored.

Coal Processing

Processing Is a treatment process of the commodity after the mines, to convert from raw minerals mineral that is ready to be marketed.

Its activities are:
- The process of crushing
- The process of blending (mixing)
- Washing process (laundering)

Hot Work (Work with Heat) at Mine (PART 2)

Fire watch
Is a person assigned to supervise the work of Hot Work during the work was done, a fire watch shall:
• Trained to understand the hazards associated with work area and work of Hot Work
• Ensure that safe conditions maintained during Hot Work Work done
• Has authority to stop work if unsafe conditions occur
• Have adequate fire extinguishers and are trained to use it
• Already familiar with the equipment and emergency procedures applicable in case of fire
• Monitor all fires in the area that looks
• Extinguish fires in accordance with the capabilities they have a fire extinguisher
• Ring the alarm, if the fire can not be extinguished with a fire extinguisher capabilities of existing
• Doing other jobs, as long as not to distract from the task of Fire Watch

Before the permit issued:
1. All cracks in floors or walls should be covered with anti-fire material or other material can not be burned
2. Tagged on the conveyor
3. Cover the walls, partitions, ceilings or roofs made of materials that can burn (eg wood)
4. Perform preventive measures did the lighting a fire in the wall behind the work site
5. Hot Work on the pipe or metal associated with fire walls that could not be done, because fires can occur through heat conduction.
Hot Work is not permitted if:
1. The work can not be moved to a location that is free of flammable
2. Material can not be transferred to burn a safe distance or protected from fire
3. Hot work can not be scheduled such that the operation of the material can be burned to the source of the fire can not be avoided during the work Hot Work.
Things that must be considered
- Welding or cutting of container
- Working in confined spaces
- Fall Protection
- Placement of cable welder
- Selection of eye protection
- Safety helmet and protective hand
- Protective clothing
- Securing the tubes and machines
- Existing information on the warning label on the fluxes, coatings, coverings, and filler metal
